Kidney Biopsies
In some patients, correct diagnoses can only be made with kidney biopsies (as opposed to blood or urine tests, sonograms or X-rays). This process involves removing one or more tiny samples from your kidney so they can be examined through special microscopes. A biopsy helps identify how much permanent damage has been done, if a disease is progressing, why a transplanted kidney isn’t working well and many other potential issues.
