Vascular Access
Vascular access makes life-saving dialysis treatments possible. It’s how blood flows in and out during treatments, and is made possible through minor surgery to your arm or leg. As the only vascular access center in the region, Columbia Nephrology Associates offers several types of access procedures. These include fistulas (in which an artery and vein are joined to create a bigger blood vessel), grafts (which uses a soft plastic tube) and catheters (smaller tubes).
